A large amount of businesses are currently struggling with timelines, processes and profitability?

💡 Ask, what does it take to get the work done?

Anyone who knows me will tell you I bang on about Operational Excellence 😁. Just what do I mean by Operational Excellence? Well, for me, it is about how we go about achieving the result, often constrained by a number of factors that typically start with our resources.

Over the last few months, I’ve been speaking and working with a number of agency owners. These are a few of the repeated threads of conversations which you may resonate with;

  1. We want to scale but we’re not sure our current structure will allow for that. What do we need to change to achieve that goal?
  2. We are at capacity, and it feels like we are firefighting daily to get the work done. What do we need to change?
  3. We seem to be missing out on a number of deals/pitches. What do we need to change?

In all cases, it can be down to Operational Excellence (or lack of). Given the latest government announcements, which will see costs rise for businesses, I’d like to give you something that will cost you nothing and give you everything.

My challenge to you is…💥 Take 30% to 50% out of your systems and/or processes.

I know what you’re thinking: We will drop the ball, make mistakes, and lower our client satisfaction scores. You’re not. You will challenge yourself and your team to do this while producing great work and ensuring your clients are happy (which is my number one priority).

Don’t follow processes blindly, ask yourself;

❓ What does it take to get the work done?

❓ Are all of these steps necessary?

❓ Is there a more efficient way of doing things?

❓ Are there tools that can help us?

This is particularly true of any creative services business. They often grow and don’t change their processes, and they wonder why they struggle to keep up. Other businesses act like conglomerates and have systems and processes 🚀 NASA would be proud of, but these bloated systems make them uncompetitive.

Once you feel you have the solution, map it out. Are you ultimately making 20% profit or more? If not, then the process needs tuning.

Let me know how you get on, and if you’re unsure how to do it, drop me a DM.
