I’m an Elf get me out of here!

It is that time of year when our household becomes an intense ideas factory for the days in December leading up to Christmas. Our elves…Eddie and Freddie are up to their naughty tricks!

For all the last-minute, ‘Have you remembered to do the elves?’ as you’re just dropping off to sleep, it’s worth seeing the excitement on the kids’ faces as they try to find the elves in the morning.

It is interesting because, as we get older, we don’t often like the element of surprise. We want to plan ahead, be organised, and know what is happening and when, which makes perfect sense. However, when it comes to investing time into business strategy, it doesn’t get enough attention. This also makes sense because it is an uncomfortable journey with an uncertain destination.

Plus you need to factor in juggling the balance of daily operations with marketing, finance, operations etc…and this type of pressure and complexity will often lead to procrastination. I’m on your side and I know how this must feel. I also understand the external pressures that the majority of business owners are feeling with tricky trading conditions, additional tax levys and reduced margins.

My gift to you as a senior leader, business owner or founder is my FREE workshop in January – How to Create a Winning Business Strategy. You can reserve your spot here;

This is a sneak peek of what I’ve been pulling together…

Your approach can be a bit like the pandemic response. A Present Forward Strategy – examples such as Fortnum and Mason, who didn’t have an eCommerce offering, were forced because of external pressures to trade in other ways. Rick Stein (the King of Padstow) who’s offering was that typical of a celebrity chef, restaurants and cookbooks. Queue the lockdowns, and they pivot the business and create Rick Steins at Home. Not only saving the business from shutting its doors but also creating a new revenue stream and new audiences due to its accessibility.

The alternative (and a preferable route) is to adopt a Forward-Focused Vision. Try to imagine your organisation’s future and work backwards to build your reality. Get your team to gather around a collective goal for the whole organisation.

That intention needs to be communicated throughout the organisation and built buy-in because it is your team that will help you deliver on that mission. Based on that, create your breakthrough objectives (typically with a 3—to 5-year time horizon) and then break this down into this year’s tasks that will walk you towards your objectives.

In summary;

  1. Create your Future-Focused Vision
  2. Work with your team by working backwards from the vision about how your going to achieve it
  3. Ensure that your KPIs not only drive the longer-term Future-Focused Vision but they understand how their impact drives the outcome.

I’d love to share more with you right here, but I’m not going to just yet… If you want to know more, grab your spot and click the link for the FREE workshop:

A few people have asked why I am sharing this information on a live (and free) webinar. Well, I want to help people thrive, not survive. I’ve been listening to individuals like you, and it is clear that this will benefit organisations with a turnover between £1m and £10m (although if you’re smaller or bigger, that doesn’t exclude you).

I am really excited to share these insights to make your 2025 and beyond a success.
